Hello and thanks for visiting. I started carving wood about 17 years ago. I tried to make a mantel clock with a clover carved in the front. The legs started out unevenly and from there it turned into something like a bad haircut, I kept cutting the legs shorter and shorter until it was flat on the bottom.

To me the Celtic arts are an important part of Irish history. Both of my parents were born in Ireland, Mary from Kerry and Kevin from Cavan, and having gone back with my wife and 3 sons numerous times, I am ever inspired to reflect and carve its beauty.

My Father worked all of his life as a carpenter in Chicago. He built homes in the city and suburbs for over 40 years and I worked with him since I could push a broom. I learned a lot of my carpentry skills from him and I believe I would not be carving wood today if not for the fundamentals I learned from him, thanks Dad.

I am an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and so are my 3 sons.To me the outdoor experience is a tradition that should be instilled in our children.

I hope you enjoy this site and if you decide to join my Celtic Wood Carvers School may it bring you years of enjoyment and creativity. It is truly a passion of the arts.

Sincerely,

Bernie Fay

Above is an eight foot tall Irish/Celtic themed Grandfather clock. The door consists of nearly two hundred pieces of stained glass that I designed and hand cut. On the bottom of the clock is the clients Coat of Arms. I made it in 1999-2000 and it took nearly a year to complete. I did not work on it full time, 3-10 hours per week.

The clock dial face is a laser engraved bronze plate from a 150 year old book of etchings by William Henry Bartlett. click to enlarge

Above is a fire place mantel, it is approximately 50 inches wide and 14 inches tall. Again the corbels are hand carved on both sides. click to enlarge
